Major Differences Between Web2.0 and Web
Just like humans develop and improve, the technologies we use pass through different stages growth as well.
Web2.0 and Web3.0 are different stages of growth of internet services (world wide web).
Web2.0 is the second generation of the internet service (www), and it brings a lot of interesting features on board, such as encouraging the design of web pages and collaborations amongst users.
It lays foundation for internet services such as e-commerce and social media platforms.
Fast forward to today, web2.0 is now being succeeded by a new stage, web3.0 which brings more interesting and useful features.
Today, via the major differences between web2.0 and web3.0, we shall learn the features web3.0 is bringing on board.
Major Differences Between Web2.0 and Web3.0
While there are quite a handful of differences between Web2.0 and Web3.0.
I will streamline it to two comprehensive ones, Decentralization and Immutability
1. Decentralization:
This is the most fundamental and basic difference between web2.0 and web3.0, every other differences is a by-product of this feature.
Web3.0, unlike web2.0 is decentralized, it cannot be controlled/manipulated by a specific set of people.
It is not in the hand of the founders of a web3 product to single handedly prevent, delete, approve or reject a transaction (activity) rather it is in the hand of everyone in the product's community.
2. Immutability:
Another important feature of web3 is that, it is very unrealistic to change or alter any transactions (activity) that takes place in the community.
This in turn gives more security to the product.
Aside security, this builds confidence in users that their data cannot be deleted by anyone who just wishes to (not even the founder).
Whilst, web3.0 is highly secure, it should be noted that it is not 100% foolproof from being hacked.
However, the chances of getting hacked is slim.
Talking about web3.0, thanks to the zuri team for giving opportunity to learn it for free via it's ongoing web3.0 bootcamp programme (blockgames).
One of web3.0 oriented product is nestcoin which focuses on democratizing economic opportunities.
